‘It’s overhyped’, ‘it’s overpriced’, ‘getting home is a nightmare’, ‘you’ll end up kissing the wrong person at midnight’… these are just some of the reasons that people prefer to stay in or have a house party for New Year’s Eve. But for landlords, hoteliers and other venues that are planning to attract additional business on the 31st of December, here are some tips that will help you herald in 2020 with plenty of customers.

A recent survey by Drizly, in partnership with Netflix, revealed that nearly seven in ten people plan to slump on the sofa for the big event or to ring in the new year at a friend’s, how do you stop the idea of dressing up, stepping out and spending a glamorous night eating, drinking and dancing slipping away as quickly as a new year’s resolution?

But it’s still Christmas, we hear you cry… there’s staffing issues, menu additions and so the list of challenges grows. However, here are just a few ideas and things to follow to make sure it’s your new year’s event people choose to come along to:

  1. Create a strong social media presence – Make sure you create an event on your Facebook page, and share the news frequently across your social media channels. Use images and anything else that will make your event stand out from the crowd and look appealing. Create a buzz, ask guests, and social media followers to share the event. Run a competition (be mindful of social media rules) to attract people to book
  1. Give discounted tickets for block bookings, early bird bookings to encourage people to book in advance
  1. Offer your customers a little luxury. New Year’s Eve comes but once a year so help people make it an extra special night out by putting on the glitz with a few add-on perks such as quick entry, complimentary champagne, the chance to meet special guests

According to Eventbrite, 46 per cent of people say they decide which new year’s event to attend at the last minute so make sure your event promotion between Christmas and New Year ensures that you can’t fail to be noticed.

If you have outdoor space, why not bring in the New Year with a firework display? Warm up your clientele by giving them a midnight snack from the BBQ. Fire up the Cinders Barbecue and get the new year off to a blast with a party that’s hot off the grill – steak sandwiches or spicy hot dogs are always popular.

…. and so it only remains for us at Cinders Barbecues to wish you a happy and successful 2020.
