As we are now in the height of summer, it only makes sense to host a BBQ feast, full of delicious dishes that are perfect for the summertime. Might we add, the summer bank holiday (29^th August) is also slowly approaching, a long weekend that can be spent with friends and family enjoying a good old tasty BBQ.

To kick start our list, we have fish skewers/kebabs! We believe there is nothing more refreshing and more appropriate for summer than a light and tasty fish dish. For fish skewers, we recommend a white fish such as cod or haddock, which is firm yet nice and flaky. Not only that, when these fish are barbecued correctly they will simply melt in your mouth, creating a delightful sensation. Accompany your fish skewers with some rice noodles or a tasty lettuce-based salad.

2.      Gourmet Hot Dogs

Our second favourite summer BBQ recipe is a gourmet hot dog. Hot dogs make a nice and simple dish that is loved by everyone – you can’t go wrong! However, to make this dish a little more interesting, we suggest turning your average hot dog into a gourmet hot dog, which will certainly be popular in restaurants and gastro pubs.

3.      Chicken and Halloumi Burgers

It is well-known that everyone is partial to a big and juicy burger however, sometimes a traditional beef burger can be a bit heavy for a hot summer’s day. As an alternative, we have found a recipe from BBC Good Food which is more appropriate.

These chicken and halloumi burgers are a fantastic option for a summer BBQ! Not only are they quick and easy to make, but they are packed with an abundance of char-grilled flavour that the whole family will love. This dish will be a perfect addition to any summer barbecue event. Add a side of salad or some fries and you’re good to go!

4.      Tacos

Now, tacos may not seem like your typical barbecue dish however, they are perfect for a summer cookout. You can make tacos with any meat you like, whether that is fish, chicken, beef or pork – you can alter this dish to cater for all your guests. Tacos are loaded with flavour as they can be covered in a range of toppings! We suggest serving tacos with salsa, guacamole, homemade slaw, coriander, and a squeeze of lime, for a wonderful summer snack.

Finally, we have the classic corn on the cob, which seems to make more of an appearance in the summer months. Corn on the cob is ideal for vegetarians and makes a perfect side to any BBQ dish. When barbecued, a beautiful, charred flavour is created, and the corn becomes even more sweet and juicy. Although we prefer to coat our corn with the traditional butter and salt combination, you can add anything you like, from chilli, to garlic, coriander, and even parmesan cheese – the list is endless!
